Chinese Version
My daughter enjoys manicures while I like pedicures.
My daughter painted my toenails a very pretty red after the very hot summer of 2017 in California,
After my toe nails were done, I asked my son: “My toenails look pretty, right?”
My son shook his head: “Sorry, I don’t think they are pretty.”
“Your sister painted for me.”
“Oh, if she did them for you, then they must be pretty.”
“But do you really think they are pretty?”
“Mommy, I really don’t think they are pretty, sorry.”
“It’s OK, painted toenails are not natural beauty but an acquired taste. It seems you are not educated enough yet, so you didn’t see their beauty.”
My son smiled at my comments ambiguously.
Growing up with a nagging loving mother and a caring smart sister, my son was shaped to be very polite. I have no doubt that the environment affects a person’s personality.
Though my son was not interested in my painted toenails, I happily shared my pretty toenails and my daughter’s caring nature with my friends.
Then one of my friend commented that the toenails are very pretty and asked what color was my toenail. Because the beauty of my toenails was the result of my daughter’s hard work, I felt I should live up to her art. For this reason, I went to the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden to look for roses matching the red shade of my toenails.
The trip to the garden was joyful, I found a very pretty red rose which was the same shade of red.
It is a fun story with wine and spicy Cheetos, I penned a flowery expression tonight.
